THE SOSHAD HELPING THE YOUTH OF SOSHANGUVE

The organization called SOSHAD normally known for helping the youth that is disabled and has no limitation on age. The place is situated in Soshanguve block H near Maluleka Spar.

SOSHAD is abbreviated from Soshanguve Self-Help Association of people with Disability. This place accommodates the youth that is disabled from the age of 3 years upwards. They provide the youth with quality education. SOSHAD was formed in 2002, it is owned by Mr. Kolofelo Dau who is the manager of the center.

Mashamaite Joyce, who is a teacher at SOSHAD started working at the center in 2002 when the place was opened. Mrs. Mashamaite said, “Being around these children is not a problem at all, I love teaching them. I teach them English, how to write their names and basic lessons.”

Bongani Kubeka who is a 11-year-old boy arrived at the center in 2019 at the age of 7. Bongani said that he enjoys being with his friends and seeing his teacher Mrs. Mashamaite. Bongani has speech disability.

Christina Ngubeni has been around SOSHAD for 4 years now, is the caregiver and works with children by checking on them and checking the creche side. “Working here is not a problem. It is my job to look after them since I pledged myself to Mr. Dau,” said Miss Ngubeni.

Malehu Seema is an assistant and was attending at South Campus in Tshwane University of Technology. She is currently doing her honors, her work in SOSHAD is to help children with crafting and other activities. She was around in 2018 and 2019 doing her practical and is now volunteering.

SOSHAD center is helpful to the youth and community. They take care of them and keep them out of the streets. It accommodates them with many activities and games. It does not only accommodate, but feeds them and makes sure they are safe from any danger. Every Friday social workers come to check if everything is in order.
